• Irons: 5 to 9. Retire the 3- and 4-irons. At slower swing speeds, long iron distances are closely bunched. And, if you have a harder swing, you probably lack accuracy.
• Wedges: A minimum of three, with consistent four-degree increments between them. Start by setting your pitching wedge four degrees weaker than your 9-iron, then add the gap (48- to 53-degrees) and sand wedges.
• Woods: Consider an offset driver; 7- and 9-woods are musts.
